COVID-19 Updates

UPDATED:  March 31, 10:30am

Dear Istrouma Family,

We hope you are each doing well and adjusting to the “new normal.” As always, please don’t hesitate to let us know if you need assistance. We may be separated by distance but we are still part of one family of faith!

On Sunday, President Trump extended the current social distancing guidelines through April 30. We will, of course, observe those guidelines and will monitor further recommendations from local and national officials. In light of this most recent recommendation, all on-campus events are canceled through April 30. Our offices will remain closed during this time as well.

We will continue to livestream our services on Sundays at 9:15am on YouTube and Facebook Live. Choose a platform and stay connected as we watch, study, and pray together. Watch Istrouma’s social media on Wednesday for an encouraging midweek devotional and don’t forget to follow along in the Ephesians study on RightNow Media.

This Sunday, April 5, we will have the opportunity to observe the Lord’s Supper in our homes during the livestream, with one of our pastors guiding us through the steps of communion. When we observe communion during a church service, we traditionally use grape juice and unleavened crackers as the “elements,” representing the blood and body of Christ. You might not have those items at home and that’s ok. Any bread or cracker and any juice (or tea, soda, water) can serve as the symbols of Christ’s sacrifice. Take some time this week to gather the things you’ll need. We hope this will be a meaningful time for you and we are looking forward to hearing about your at-home communion experience.

We want to stay connected, now more than ever! To help get important information and updates to you, we’re going to begin sending two emails each week:  Tuesdays and Fridays. Beginning this Friday, these emails will once again be sent through Mailchimp, our e-newsletter service. If you’ve had problems getting those emails in the past, please check your spam, junk, or clutter folders. If you find emails from "" in those folders, mark them “not junk” and drag or move them into your inbox. You might have to repeat this more than once. If you’re not sure if you are on our Mailchimp email list, click here to submit your information. Questions? Contact us.

We have an incredible opportunity to love our neighbors and our community during this time of quarantine and social distancing. Thank you for being a church that remains faithful in stewardship and generosity. Your gifts allow Istrouma to stay on the mission of glorifying God by making disciples of all nations. Click here to give online or text ISTROUMA IBC to 73256.

We’re looking forward to the days when we can all worship together again but we’re so encouraged each time we hear from you or “see” you online. Remember, the best is yet to come!
