We're excited to announce that Istrouma members voted to affirm Pastor Tim Keith as our new senior pastor! Pastor Tim and his family will begin the process of moving to the Baton Rouge area and will join us for his first official Sunday on July 11.
After much prayer and consideration, the Pastor Search Team is pleased to announce their candidate for the position of senior pastor. Tim Keith is a Louisiana native and has served at churches in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana. He is a graduate of LSU-S and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Tim and his wife, Kim, have three children: Abigail, Gabby, and Jacob.

In general, how does Istrouma go about choosing the next pastor?
The church-affirmed nominating team (lay leaders) and transition team (combination of staff leadership and lay leaders) recommend a team for the congregation to approve as was completed in early June. The search team will then begin the spiritual path with the Lord’s lead to find the man God has for Istrouma. At some point, the search team will recommend a person to the congregation for approval.
How is a pastor search team formed?
The church-affirmed nominating team (lay leaders) and transition team (combination of staff leadership and lay leaders) recommend a team for the congregation to approve as was completed in early June.
How long will it take?
The range for most churches is one to two years. Past experience for Istrouma has been at the lower end of that range but God’s timing supersedes any estimates we make
What will it cost and do we have funds for it?
Costs for this vary depending on length of time required but monies are available within the current budget
Who makes the final decision on hiring a pastor?
The search team will recommend a person to the congregation who has the final authority on calling a new pastor.
How has the virus pandemic affected the search?
Formation of the pastor search team was delayed while details about the virus were handled.
